The spooky season is upon us! Week 11! With the overwhelming terror and fear in the air, our Phoenix Press members were inspired to write their own quick horror stories. We’ve all heard of “Baby shoes for sale, never worn.”, the famous horror story from Ernest Hemingway. But what haunts our fellow RHesidents? Find out, and read their stories! We hope they scare you, make your skin crawl or at least distract you from the scariest thing that’s coming for all of us: finals!

There's never John, you killed them. - Enxi
What our writer had to say: so basically, the character created this imaginary murderer to cope with his trauma of killing others. i think what's really terrifying might be what our mind is capable of. a traumatic memory you'd like to bury deep within you for instance, may be forced into the open with a little trigger, and that, may very well shake up your entire world, because you are now faced with a new identity you may not want to accept or acknowledge.
Who this will scare: True crime enthusiasts.
You've always been like this, no? - Likun
What our writer had to say: You thought you knew yourself well. Surely you have some flaws, but you’re not a bad person. Then comes a day when one of your closest friends says, “You’ve always been like that, no?” And you have no idea what they’re talking about. Then it dawned on you that they were right, and you’ve always been the villain of the story, unknowingly.
Who this will scare: Everyone.
Happy end of October! We hope our stories gave you a little bit of a fright, and we hope that nothing truly scary comes for any of you! All the best to you for your finals, and that figure standing behind you..?
